The new and the old thing...

Last night I was on my way to meet some friends and suddenly I saw myself stopped at Union Square Station watching these amazing guys of Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. Their music is so so so great (my favorite soundtrack of these last times), but unfortunately, for personal reasons, it does not bring me good memories... Listen to it here and watch them below:

Anyway, after some time there - I was trying to buy their CDs, but I didn't have enough money - I took the 1 train going to West Harlem (122 Street and Broadway) to see a concert of some Charles Mingus' themes that would be presented by Manhattan School of Music students. Funny, but the contrast smacked my face: at Union Square a bunch of Black guys were trying make some money with fresh jazz music and wearing hip-hop clothes. At the stage of Manhattan School, a band formed just for White dudes, wearing suit and ties, was playing classics of hard bop and free jazz composed by a man who almost got crazy as a result of racism in the US.

Man, crazy things happen in NYC... Shit!

If you are coming to NYC, try to find out what station Hypnotic is playing and go there to see them. The experience of enjoying great music at subway is crazy! Don't forget give your tip (US$ 1 or more) or buy their CDs (1 for US$ 15 and 2 for US$ 20). They worth each cent!
